Cody Harvey is an American entrepreneur and visionary behind a plethora of market-disrupting technologies, most recently, Breakout Audio. Cody has revolutionized the way industries such as finance, entertainment, blockchain, SaaS and non-profits operate in order to maximize impact and increase the bottom line. Cody has proudly shown the business world more efficient ways to accomplish its goals. Cody’s latest startup, Breakout, is a new free social audio app that will let users not only connect and share without censorship but also own and sell their own data.
What was your journey like to get where you are?
It’s been a wild ride the past few years. To be honest, I never thought I’d be in the technology space. I started off launching a marketing company that pivoted into an automation software company. During that experience, I started exploring social media platforms and which ones would be the best fit for promoting our business.I put together a list of the things I liked about the current platforms and what I’d do differently if we created one – and that’s how Breakout was born. The journey, for the most part, has been incredible as I’ve met so many people who are amazing innovators. It takes a team to truly move the needle in this space—and I’m thankful we’ve built a very strong one.
In a simpler phrase, what is your company exactly doing?
Breakout is focused on connecting people globally and allowing them to interact with one another through real-time audio conversations. Or put another way, Breakout is an audio social network for people who want high-quality, verified content that can be created and heard easily and is free from big-tech censorship. —And our users can make money from their data on the platform, which makes us unique.
What about Metaverse are you most excited for in the future?
I’m excited about how it will change the average person’s day-to-day. I would compare it to having computers in our homes or phones in our pockets. It’s kind of weird if someone doesn’t have a phone or a computer these days assuming they have the resources to purchase them. But there was a world when that wasn’t the case. We are entering into a similar season now with the metaverse. Soon, I believe everyone will interact in the metaverse and it will be as common as sending a text message. I’m excited to witness this transformation.
Why should we be paying attention to the Metaverse?
I think we should be paying attention to how stepping into a fictional world allows us to bend or shape our reality. I think we’re going to see a lot of innovation from creatives who can leverage technology to create a new world – and these creations and designs will inevitably spill over into our real world. Our real-world environment is going to be shaped by the ideas being expressed inside of the metaverse. This, in my opinion, will be the most interesting thing to watch.
