Thibault Launay is a serial entrepreneur and business angel across various sectors. He is part of NFT hedge fund Blackpool, an advisor of OVR.ai, and a well-known collector of NFTs and physical vintage watches. Thibault is an alumnus of Paris Dauphine University, Harvard Business School, and Forbes 30 Under 30.
What was your journey like to get where you are?
Our team was assembled through multiple shared entrepreneur experiences. We all have a huge passion for both collecting digital assets and being involved in the crypto scene. Together with my co-founders, we decided to create Exclusible as the first-ever NFT platform focused on the luxury and other high-end segments of commerce. Knowing that this would be a challenge from the start, we aim to rewrite the new age of digital luxury and elevate traditional brands into the web3 space.
In a simpler phrase, what is your company exactly doing?
We work in collaboration with premium brands and celebrities to develop Metaverse and NFT activations. Our mission is based on the notion that NFTs are the product and the Metaverse is the experience, so we aim to sell digital assets as well as virtual experiences that are linked to the utilities and rewards of those two levels of engagement.
What about Metaverse are you most excited for in the future?
Right now we are very excited about The Sandbox and have generated NFT sales in the several millions of euros on the platform. We are also excited about Decentraland and its capacity for social interaction and to organize community gatherings, events, and exclusive parties. But of course, we always keep in mind that we will need to have a presence on several platforms. For that reason, we have a full Metaverse Department ready to invest and implement activities and activations in various digital universes.
Why should we be paying attention to the Metaverse?
When you think about the future and the next steps ahead, it’s impossible not to think about the importance of virtual life. Of course, by now we already see the big impact of social media and digital platforms in our daily lives, but in the future, this is the natural progression — our digital and 3D interactions will be equally or even more important than physical or conventional life. We are convinced that the progressive migration of our social life to the Metaverse will only accelerate. In an era of conscious consumerism, and overall saturation, the Metaverse opens vast opportunities for luxury brands to develop a new business segment around digital assets and connect with an entirely new generation of users.
