Jeremy Britton started his career as a financial planner in 1992. An expert at picking stocks, he discovered crypto markets were like a tiny unregulated stock market. What was your journey like to get where you are?
My parents were both schoolteachers, and education is very important to me. My life mission is to “simplify the complex”. When I was in financial planning for 20+ years, I cut through the jargon and explained things simply in blogs, newsletters, and a best-selling book. We still work with stocks, and crypto is the new kid on the block. We still simplify the complex, cut through the jargon, and believe that “investing is for everyone”, not just the elite who use big words.

What about Metaverse are you most excited for in the future?
We love the democratization of the space: in past years, gamers could get to the highest level and win in-game rewards, but only the creators of the game would make money. We applaud the fact that gamers, authors, musicians, and other content-creators can now profit more from their efforts, with fewer middlemen. Obviously, DeFi companies are huge competition for traditional banks and reward those who save and invest far more than the old banking model. Models that have existed for hundreds or even thousands of years are being flipped on their heads. It is all very exciting and literally world-changing.
Why should we be paying attention to the Metaverse?
Everything in our lives is being gamified: people were sharing on social media to get likes, shares, and followers, and hopefully, eventually to capitalize on that later. The Metaverse allows anyone who creates content to monetize it almost immediately and sometimes earn royalties for many years afterward. Vincent van Gogh died broke, and although his paintings have gone on to be worth billions, his family makes nothing from the subsequent sales. Metaverse and Web3 mean that your grandchildren can still be making money from your creations and publications, long after you have died. It is nice to have a book, painting, song, article, or creation that will still be popular in 100 years; it’s even better if you can still make money from it.
