Wayne Marcel is the Head of Business Development and Strategic Partnerships with the Foundation for Interwallet Operability, FIO. With his background and passion for education and coaching, working with FIO to help make cryptocurrency users’ experiences easy and seamless allows him to pursue his passion in the space. Wayne has spent countless hours in the past helping to onboard new users, facilitate meetup groups, and even organize and host small and large industry events. Wayne published a beginner’s guide to a cryptocurrency called From No Crypto to Know Crypto and hosted a podcast for 3 years under the same name with over 140 educational episodes.
What was your journey like to get where you are?
Once I realized the impact this technology could have on the world, I became passionate about teaching others about this space and breaking down barriers to help drive adoption. I started by helping individuals, began podcasting, and eventually focused on working with projects that are working to make the cryptocurrency and blockchain space more user-friendly which led me to FIO for more than a year now.
In a simpler phrase, what is your company exactly doing?
FIO is enabling crypto adoption through usability. Our protocol makes using any and all cryptocurrencies easier and less prone to mistakes. At our core, our chain enables users to send, receive, and request digital assets using human-readable wallet names, called FIO Crypto Handles. The use cases implemented using our protocol have grown greatly and are so much more than just that now.
What about Metaverse are you most excited for in the future?
The Metaverse, like cryptocurrency in general, gives both users and entrepreneurs new ways to explore, shop, and interact, in many cases exceeding current limitations from pre-existing technology or limits due to geography.
Why should we be paying attention to the Metaverse?
Just like every business or brand needs a website today, every one of those will need a presence in the Metaverse to compete and be a viable business.
