Miggy Azurin is a serial entrepreneur, public speaker, educator, content creator on Youtube and Tiktok featuring NFTs and P2E, a marketing strategist for Web 3 / crypto / NFT projects, and a consultant for big brands who would like to move into the space eventually. He is the CEO of The Mega Maxi, a Web 3 media company that delivers the latest news and events about crypto, NFTs, P2E Gaming, and Metaverse. Azurin is currently the Chief Marketing Officer of 4Gives, a fintech startup offering Buy Now, Pay Later products for customers. He is also the Managing Partner of Huskee Digital — an e-commerce marketing agency committed to creating human and helpful brands, specializing in digital strategy, media buying, and analytics. On top of this. He is a professor teaching business at Ateneo de Manila University, a top university in the Philippines.
What was your journey like to get where you are?
Before becoming a serial entrepreneur, Azurin claims that he used to be a “serial failure,” as it took him six attempts before he finally got entrepreneurship right. He dabbled in tech, food, and recruitment before he found his love for marketing, and now, he is involved in many communities in the NFT space. Azurin jumped into entrepreneurship right after graduating from college. He started several startup companies in different industries, but none of them panned out. He went on a long without making a real profit, so he ventured into freelancing as a marketing consultant. He dangled free services for a month for interested clients to attract clients. He had a great start as a dozen people availed his services. In April 2017, Azurin decided to raise the bar of his entrepreneurial goal for the sixth attempt by forming his own marketing consulting company called Huskee Digital. He remained relentless and persistent that he used his previous business failures as an opportunity to reimagine his entrepreneurial goal, leading to the foundation of his own agency. Later on, he joined 4Gives as Chief Marketing Officer. 4Gives is a fintech startup offering “Buy Now, Pay Later” products for customers or users with equal installments to anything they would like to purchase at 0% interest. Azurin is also an advocate of getting seven to eight hours of sleep every night. With this, he ventured into running a sleep health e-commerce business called Better Sheep, which offers products that help sleep better at night, including blankets, loungewear, lavender-scented balm, and care kits. His interest in Crypto, Web 3, and Metaverse sparked in early 2021 when he discovered NBA Top Shot, the official NFT project of the National Basketball Players Association. He saw the marketing potential of NFTs and how brands utilize the technology to reach more fans, build engagement, and connect with different people on a virtual level. Eventually, he moved into play-to-earn games like “Axie Infinity .”He is the ambassador for another blockchain mobile RPG called “Guild of Guardians.” And to date, he is involved in many other smaller communities in the NFT space. In his deep dive into NFTs, he realized that there is so much information needed to digest, and he had a hard time figuring that out on his own. And now, Azurin feels he is in a better position because of the information he has gathered. He wants to provide an avenue for people to consume high-quality information in one place and one location– and that is through “The Mega Maxi.” Integrating his ability to create exceptionally successful businesses, his passion for public speaking, and his desire to educate crypto natives and big brands to maximize opportunities in the rising industry of Web 3, Azurin founded a web 3 company called The Mega Maxi. It started as a passion project to provide high-quality content to inspire and educate users about crypto, NFTs, P2E Gaming, and Metaverse. Azurin also creates content on Youtube and Tiktok featuring NFTs and P2E.
In a simpler phrase, what is your company exactly doing?
The Mega Maxi is a Web3 media company that delivers the latest news and events about crypto, NFTs, P2E Gaming, and Metaverse. It is Miggy Azurin’s passion project that aims to provide high-quality content to inspire and educate users in all things NFT and P2E games. The company recently closed an investment that will help fund its mission to bring the next one billion users to Web 3.
What about Metaverse are you most excited for in the future?
The first one would be how communities will start shaping business decisions. For the longest time, big tech businesses like Apple, Facebook, or the social media platform defined the experience, and we have to be playing by the rules. But with Web 3, Azurin thinks that most Web 3 companies building in the Metaverse will be “community first,” and the community will have more influence and more say over experiences that they are going to be going through. Having organizations that are really built around their communities is something that excites Azurin about Metaverse in the future. In addition, Azurin is also looking forward to having more freedom over data or the assets you own. One of the core tenants of Web 3 is decentralization– having users own more of what they are supposed to be owning, like their assets. Azurin thinks that will be a huge part of the future where more people actually own the stuff they have online.
Why should we be paying attention to the Metaverse?
Very similar to how the startup industry, which has been running for the last two decades, has just changed society’s landscape, Azurin thinks that the next big tech brands are going to be born out of web 3 or in the metaverse. Suppose you are a participant right now in the economy. In that case, you have to pay attention to what’s happening in this space because somewhere out there, a group of guys are building out to be the next big brand that you’re going to be using every day. And that is definitely something to look forward We have to pay attention to the Metaverse because similar to how startups shaped the economy, the next big tech brands will be born out of Web 3 or in the Metaverse.
