Jose David Sanchez is the founder and CEO of Vuro – Virtual Office, a Web 3 productivity platform. He is also a web 3 startup consultant. Previously he has helped by outsourcing teams in Asia for American companies. He is a Blockchain leader and a crypto enthusiast. He lives and works in the Philippines.
What was your journey like to get where you are?
Back in 2013, a friend of mine came to sell me his Bitcoin. That was the first time I heard of it. Like many of us, I was intrigued and went straight to Google it. The first things that came out of that search were a lot of negative opinions. I ended up not buying. I wish I did though. Some years later, I realized I was misled by people, in those opinionated articles, who did not understand the technology behind them. And of course, I wished I knew better. Nevertheless, I started little by little to learn more about Blockchain technology I was amazed. I surely knew someday every company will be using Blockchain technology. I spent countless hours studying it so that I can guide people the way I wished I was guided. During the pandemic, I was doing consulting work for an American company. We were a team of 30 people in the Customer Service department and around 500 in total from all departments worldwide. The CS department team used to work in one office in Manila but, since everything became remote, we noticed that we became less engaged with each other. We were using Zoom, Slack, Google Teams, and WhatsApp. Yet, we were disconnected. All those products were designed to complement office work, not to replace it. That’s when it clicked. We decided to create the first Web 3 productivity platform called Vuro.
In a simpler phrase, what is your company exactly doing?
Vuro is a web 3 productivity platform with an RPG game interface. We provide 3D office spaces for teams and professionals around the world to work, interact, and network. If you have heard of Play to Earn, we are introducing also Train (others) to Earn, and Engage to Earn. In short, we make remote work fun and interactive.
What about Metaverse are you most excited for in the future?
To me, the Metaverse is more than just one platform that runs on VR headsets. The Metaverse is an idea with endless possibilities. I can’t wait to see how we will enhance human interactions instead of replacing them, how we will be having more digital assets than physical assets, and how the world’s economy will diversify into the digital universe. Also, interoperability is what excites me the most. For instance, in the Vuro Metaverse, we are going to allow users to display their third-party NFTs in their offices. That’s just the beginning. Bring your favorite video game avatar skin to your virtual workplace in Vuro and resell it to your colleague. As well as allowing professionals from remote places in the world where no banks provide services, to enter the economy through the Metaverse. Sounds like an amazing world of opportunities
Why should we be paying attention to the Metaverse?
Just like the information highway (internet), the Metaverse will evolve into many things that will become our daily habits. While nothing can replace the real world, the Metaverse will just make it better in the long run.
