Sergiu Hamza is an industry veteran, with extensive experience at major brands including L’Oreal, BAT, Arjowiggins, and Accenture’s global innovation center. He is a connoisseur of NFTs, sci-fi, and everything Metaverse. Currently CEO of Coincub, a fintech startup best known for the global crypto ranking where we list the world’s most crypto-friendly economies.
What was your journey like to get where you are?
Started working with a fiat production company 15 years ago in the security R&D lab, where we proposed optical digital security for currencies like the euro and the dollar. Moved to the global innovation center in Accenture where I got to work with a breadth of technologies from AR/VR, AI, Blockchain, 5G, 3D modeling, and edge computing. Turns out all of those are the foundation technologies for the metaverse, and it’s exciting to see how we as a generation can be a part of building the next chapter for humanity.
In a simpler phrase, what is your company exactly doing?
We do the global crypto ranking where we compare the country’s friendliness to crypto. Basically, it’s your Forbes rich list but for the country’s adoption of the crypto economy. We are on our own path to embracing a DAO structure and will release our own NFTs with the famous French artist collective Pleix.
What about Metaverse are you most excited for in the future?
New economic models, managing to create value and rightfully attribute it to creators. Since the beginning of computers, people have created digital content like drawings, fashion, tweets, music, or cool game avatars. None of that had any monetization potential for the creator and now it has.
Why should we be paying attention to the Metaverse?
Jobs. From a jobs perspective, most companies are launching huge initiatives on the metaverse, so would be future proof to get yourself some experience in this domain. The metaverse is a work in progress for the next decade or so, but I would say if you are going to take some courses, anything linked to crypto, AR/VR, or AI will have huge upside potential for your future.
