Tadas Burgaila is a co-founder and CEO at Kilo Health, a bootstrapped digital health, and wellness company. At the moment Kilo Health is already a successful company, but with the ambition and drive that Tadas has, I believe that you will hear more about it in the next couple of years.
What was your journey like to get where you are?
I am primarily an entrepreneur, investor, and Co-Founder of Kilo Health. I started my career as an entrepreneur at a young age and built the world‘s No. 2 wallpaper website at 16. I have worked on and launched more than 100 different projects during my career, with the biggest win yet being – Kilo Health. But if I had to sum up how we got to where we are, there were only 10 of us when we started Kilo Health. We gathered together, put our savings on the table, and decided to conquer the world! The key idea was to create a company that can create companies. We created a framework for the concept, not for an exact product. It was a complex and hugely ambitious journey, especially in the beginning. We didn’t follow rules that could be found in business textbooks, even acted on the contrary, and I can say that we were crazy enough to believe that one day we’ll become the leading company that we are now, a team of 10 people that came out of nowhere. Now we are one of the fastest-growing health tech companies in the world, with more than 500 talented team members, a strong portfolio of well-performing products, and even bigger goals. The fundamental rules that helped us were moving fast, focusing on positive cash flow, having the same mindset, working hard.

Kilo Health is one of the leading digital health and wellness companies globally, not only attracting talents to join its fast-growing team but also co-founding and accelerating start-ups in a rapidly growing digital health industry.
What about Metaverse are you most excited for in the future?
The most exciting part of the metaverse is how it can enhance our reality and make our lives easier. It’s already happening. Artificial intelligence, connected medical devices, augmented or virtual realities (AR, VR) are essential technologies that will drive the metaverse, and they are already here. They are improving the ways we interact with our environment and enhancing our health. Using these technologies, we can train our medical professionals, precisely track our health data, spot medical anomalies, or heal mental health problems such as PTSD or anxiety. For instance, VR and AR are used in training surgeons. A VR simulation of surgery can help train and polish the necessary skills, and using AR glasses adds a layer of information about a patient’s body composition that reduces the possibility of mistakes during the operation. As with any type of new technology, it’s essential not to lose sight of the end goal. Metaverse can be used both as a way to run away from reality or as a tool to enhance it. Just take a look at the most mundane of actions: moving. If you get immersed in virtual reality all day long without ever stepping out of your room, your physical health will decline rapidly. However, you can use augmented reality tools to personalize your running route as you go. You can monitor your vital signs with a smartwatch to instantly adjust your training program according to your heart rate and blood pressure level. AI-driven programs can track your posture while you work out to make sure you do the exercises correctly and don’t injure yourself. The opportunities are endless here, and that is truly thrilling.
Why should we be paying attention to the Metaverse?
Metaverse merges plenty of impressive technologies into one comprehensive system. It’s important to pay attention to this process to make sure it’s inclusive to all, embraces the diverse needs of those who will use it, and avoids bias in the process. This is our chance to create a better future for all, and it would be foolish to ignore it.
